Dr Jose K Manuel’s area of specialisation are Film Studies and New Media Studies. He has 24 books and more than 89 research articles to his credit. He was awarded Kerala State Film award for Best Book on Cinema in 2003 and 2010. He has also received several other awards like the Film Critics ward (2003, 2005), Vygnaneeka Sahitya Award, Thakazhi Kadha Award, Ponkunnam Varkey Short Story Award and Kavya-Vedi Novel Award, J.C Daniel Foundation Award for the Best Adaptation Screenplay (2021). Dr Jose K Manuel was also a recipient of Postdoctoral Fellowship of Mahatma Gandhi University. He has served as member in the Board of Studies of University of Kerala, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kannur University, Karpagam University and Central University of Kerala. Quite a number of Doctoral as well as Research works have been produced under his Guidance. His books on Cinema are prescribed texts in the syllabi of various universities in Kerala.
